Eye Exams and Glasses for Children

When a student is identified with poor vision and the parents are financially unable to afford an eye exam and glasses, the school nurse provides them a River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Club Vision Referral Form to apply for financial assistance. The nurse then submits the completed Vision Referral Form to the River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Vision Assistance Program Administrator for consideration.

If the application for assistance is approved, the school nurse is requested to notify the student’s parents to schedule an appointment directly with Poole Optometric in Clover. We subsequently notify Dr. Poole’s office that River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Club will pay for the eye exam and glasses for the student.

During the past year, 10 students received financial assistance for their vision needs.

Eye Exams and Glasses for Adults

Adults work through Clover Area Assistance Center (CAAC) or PATH in York to obtain a River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Club Vision Assistance Application Form. The completed application is then submitted to the River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions Vision Assistance Program Administrator for consideration. If approved, the applicant is notified to contact Poole Optometric in Clover for an appointment, and we inform Dr. Poole’s office that River Hills / Lake Wylie Lions will pay for the eye exam and glasses for the applicant.

During the past year, 35 adults received financial assistance for their vision needs.
